Foraging walk Meet at the 20th Street trailhead

UPDATE: park roads will be closed while FDR hosts a 5k. Park nearby or use public transit if possible! MEET at the new trailhead near the 20th street entrance.

The meadow has been home to wild plant that are both edible and medicinal, in this walk we will see what remains in the meadow how they are used edibly and medicinally. This is a tour for identification and discussion only because of the current situation at the meadow it is not recommended that any plans be harvested here, but you can learn identification techniques to harvest them safely in and around your home and yard.

Accessibility: The tour involves standing and walking for a complete 90 minutes. You should be able to lift your foot high enough to negotiate any rocks or route that may be under foot. Trails may not be as defined as they once were so it’s advisable to wear clothes that adequately cover and shoes or sandals at cover your feet to prevent tripping hazards or contact with poison ivy.

Enter the Meadows from the 20th street parking lot by walking west through the community gardens and past the clubhouse.
